Zimbabwe’s leadership in artificial intelligence and digital transformation was thrust onto the global stage when Zimbabwe National AI Strategy co-architect Hon Dr Martin Muduva received the Global Business Achievers Network (GBAN) Platinum Award for Visionary Leadership and Sustainability Excellence.
The honour was presented at a high-profile ceremony presided over by Vice President Kembo Mohadi.
The Platinum Award, one of GBAN’s highest accolades, recognises leaders whose work demonstrates innovation, sustainability, and transformative impact.
Dr Muduva’s recognition underscores Zimbabwe’s growing profile in the global AI landscape, highlighting the country’s commitment to responsible technology governance and Vision 2030.
Speaking to Zimpapers yesterday, Dr Muduva emphasised that the award reflects Zimbabwe’s collective innovation journey.
He said artificial intelligence must be harnessed to transform lives, build skills, and strengthen national competitiveness.
“Receiving this Platinum Award is a tremendous honour and a reminder that meaningful innovation is achieved through collaboration.”
He noted that the recognition symbolises the combined efforts of institutions, professionals, and stakeholders shaping Zimbabwe’s digital future.
“The Zimbabwe National Artificial Intelligence Strategy provides a clear roadmap.
“But its success will depend on investing in our people,”he said.
Dr Muduva emphasised the importance of nurturing skills, research, and opportunities for young innovators to become creators of emerging technologies.
“Artificial intelligence is not an end in itself.
“It is an enabler of better healthcare, smarter agriculture, quality education, efficient public services and sustainable economic growth,”he said.
He explained that technology must be deployed ethically and inclusively to deliver tangible benefits for every Zimbabwean.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that these technologies are deployed ethically, inclusively and in ways that deliver tangible benefits.”
Dr Muduva linked AI adoption to Zimbabwe’s long-term competitiveness, reinforcing its role in advancing Vision 2030 and sustainable development.
