Zimbabwe’s multi-pronged development is driving growth of its tourism sector.

The country is undergoing a massive transformation, with upgraded road networks providing a safe and efficient way for tourists to soak in the breath-taking natural beauty, vibrant culture and rich history.

The envisaged international airport in Mt Hampden promises a seamless travel experience that connects visitors to Zimbabwe’s hidden gems and beyond.

And the Zimbabwe Republic Police is ramping up security efforts, ensuring a worry-free experience for tourists and showcasing the country’s commitment to safety.

As the current SADC chairperson, Zimbabwe is prioritising safety and security, making it an attractive destination for travellers and a hub for economic growth.

Road network

Zimbabwe is upgrading its road network, which is a crucial aspect of travel and tourism.

For instance, the rehabilitation of the Harare-Bulawayo highway, a major arterial route, has improved travel times and reduced accidents.

Similarly, the proposed upgrading of the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo highway will enhance the scenic route to one of Zimbabwe’s most popular tourist destinations.

In addition, construction of new bypasses, such as the Norton bypass and the Mbudzi Traffic Interchange, among others, is designed to alleviate congestion and reduce travel times.

Furthermore, the resurfacing of roads in key tourist areas, like the Nyanga National Park, has improved accessibility and enhanced the overall travel experience.

These upgrades are making it easier for tourists to get around.

It will also provide a safer and more efficient transportation system, which is essential for promoting tourism and economic growth. Through investing in its road network, Zimbabwe is demonstrating its commitment to creating a safe and conducive environment for tourists and investors alike.

Proposed new airport

The proposed construction of a new international airport in Mt Hampden is a game-changing development that will revolutionise Zimbabwe’s aviation landscape.

This state-of-the-art facility will be a beacon of excellence, boasting cutting-edge infrastructure, modern amenities and world-class services.

Upon completion, the airport will become a critical gateway to Zimbabwe, welcoming visitors from far and wide and providing a seamless travel experience.

The new airport will feature advanced security systems, efficient immigration and customs processes, and convenient transportation links to major tourist destinations.

Moreover, the airport’s expected capacity to handle large aircraft and increased passenger traffic will boost Zimbabwe’s capacity to be a hub for regional and international travel.

Through building this new airport, Zimbabwe is sending a resounding message to the world: it is open for business, ready to welcome visitors and committed to providing a safe, efficient and unforgettable travel experience.

Safety and security

Zimbabwe is taking huge strides towards prioritising safety and security, which is a significant positive development in tourism branding.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is intensifying security efforts.

This is a big step towards creating a secure and peaceful atmosphere, making Zimbabwe an attractive destination for travellers.

As the current chairperson of SADC, Zimbabwe is demonstrating its commitment to safety and security in the region.

This is in line with international examples like Iceland, which is known for its low crime rate and is considered one of the safest countries in the world.

Similarly, Zimbabwe’s efforts to boost security and peace will likely attract more tourists, contributing to the growth of the tourism industry and the country’s economy.

Through prioritising safety and security, Zimbabwe is sending a strong message that it is a destination where visitors can feel comfortable and enjoy their stay, which is crucial for building a positive tourism brand.

These developments are expected to enhance the tourism experience in Zimbabwe, making it an attractive destination for travellers seeking unforgettable experiences.

With its rich history, vibrant culture and breath-taking natural beauty, Zimbabwe is already a gem in the tourism world and these positive developments will only continue to polish its appeal. Through leveraging these advancements, Zimbabwe is confidently taking its rightful place alongside other top tourist destinations globally, such as New Zealand, known for its stunning landscapes and adventure tourism; or Costa Rica, celebrated for its lush rainforests and eco-tourism.

As Zimbabwe’s tourism industry flourishes, it will become a shining example of a country that has successfully rebranded itself as a safe, welcoming and unforgettable destination for travellers from around the world, solidifying its position as a leader in the global tourism market.
