ZIMBEIT studios from Beitbridge is conducting Freestyle Fridays, an event that is meant to showcase talent in the border town.

The studio was launched last year by two founders, Shane Chanyandura and Allen Ngwerume. Their goal is to uplift talent and providing a platform to artists to showcase their gifts.

Chanyandura said their motivation is in being a solution to struggling and aspiring artists in the town.

“Freestyle Fridays started in January while we were running our campaign of free recording sessions and we are happy that a number of artists have since recorded their singles.

“The event is hosted every Friday by Zimbeit studios and with the master of ceremony being Dk Faces. In these events, artists will be performing in front of a panel of judges.

“The judges and the guests will determine which artists will win the prices which are mostly free recording, studio time and marketing sessions,” he said.

Chanyandura stated that there are a number of talented artists in the area that have benefited from the initiative.

“There are a number of artists like King Narrow, Alkadon, King Washo, Star Danger, Chindege Chemesoja and Zookaman who have benefited from the project. A number of local artists have supported the initiative through being part of the panel of judges,” he said.

He said they hope to raise the Zimbabwean flag high and help in promoting the growth of local artists in the border town.

“Our hope is to help artists get recognised and this will not only be beneficial to them as individuals but it will also raise the Zimbabwean flag higher,” he said.
