Zimdef rubbishes ‘no allowance for students’ claims

Thandeka Moyo, Chronicle Reporter
ZIMBABWE Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF) has rubbished falsehoods circulating on social media purporting that the organisation is no longer paying industrial attachment allowances to students.

In a statement, ZIMDEF advised members of the public and its stakeholders to ignore the message.

“The public and all our stakeholders are advised that the information is unfounded, malicious and false.

“It is aimed at causing alarm and despondence among students and the public.

The fund is still paying the students’ industrial attachment allowances as per its mandate in terms of the Manpower Planning and Development Act of 1984,” read the statement.”

According to ZIMDEF, they have no employee by the name Terrence Gata who is allegedly representing the organisation as spokesperson in the circulating message.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused due to these falsehoods clearly aimed at tarnishing the image of ZIMDEF and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development”.
