The company announced that third party insurance for motorists can now be bought in selected retail stores in the country just the same way mobile telephone users buy airtime vouchers.
Under a new product name Insurance&Go, Zimnat Lion said motorists can now buy the product starter pack and SMS the code to any of the three networks in the country, comprising Econet Wireless, NetOne and Telecel.
“After sending your code, you will get a confirmation message. You will fill in the cover note which is contained in the starter pack.
“This means you are now insured and can get a disc at Zinara (Zimbabwe National Roads Administration),” said the company in a Press release.
Motorists are required by law to insure their vehicles before they can acquire a disc to use their cars on the roads.
However, motorists have been complaining about the paper work that is involved.
The move by Zimnat Lion is in line with various other companies in the country who are now joining the bandwagon to use ICTs to market and do business.
The companies are mainly taking advantage of the growing penetration of ICT in Zimbabwe especially the rapid expansion of mobile telephones network.
Recent statistics released by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe show that the country’s tele-density has risen to 89,88 percent in the last six months.
Tele-density is a measure of the number of active mobile SIM cards and landlines as a percentage of its total population. — CAJ News.
