Herald Editor William Chikoto urged Herald staffers to emulate the good behaviour and discipline exhibited by the senior employee.
“Mr Kumbure was well disciplined and he had good relations with other workers and our young staff members must take a leaf from that,” he said. Chikoto said it is not easy for one to spend so many years at one company and what Mr Chihota did is something that most people wish to do.
Zimpapers Harare Branch general manager Mr Samuel Bepe said the departure of Mr Kumbure does not mean he is no longer part of the family.
“Mr Kumbure remained committed to the company and his job even when the country was experiencing economic hardships and whenever you have a problem feel free to come we are there to help you,” he said.
Mr Kumbure headed the disciplinary committee for some years without breaking the company code of conduct, Mr Bepe said.
“This shows how disciplined Mr Kumbure was. We have to emulate his behaviour,” he said.
Described as a cheerful man by staff members, Mr Kumbure urged Zimpapers employees to be obedient.
“To all the young staff present, if you see even a cellphone lying idle in the office do not pick it. Doing so will result in bad situations,” he said.
