CHRONICLE and Sunday News circulation manager Mr Vethi Tshuma on Friday scooped the Zimbabwe Institute of Management manager of the year 2014 first runner-up award.

The competition was at national level. In April this year, Mr Tshuma hoisted the Zimpapers flag high after scooping the Zimbabwe Institute of Management award for manager of the year at a regional level.

He expressed gratitude to the Zimbabwe Institute of Management for recognising efforts by the managers in promoting good leadership practices in different organisations.

“I would like to thank the Zimbabwe Institute of Management for coming with such a motivating competition. I would also like to thank dynamic and energetic editors of our four publications for their guidance on best management practices,” he said.

“I feel honoured for winning the award. It makes me feel proud to win an award at regional level and at national level in a stiff competition. This surely is dedication to the Zimpapers family. I am heartily grateful for propelling the Zimpapers flag and bringing an award home. I want people to know that management is not all about books because there are some practical aspects that need to be looked at for a company to be progressive.

“Like every leader I always have vision to be progressive. I think this is what inspired me. If other people can do it at the highest level nothing can stop a person with a zeal and vision.”

Meanwhile, the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) Vice-Chancellor Prof Lindela Ndlovu was selected as the Zimbabwe Institute of Management public manager of the year 2014.

The university’s director of communication and marketing, Mr Felix Moyo, said the selection of the vice- chancellor meant a lot to the institution.

“The selection of the vice chancellor as the public manager of the year 2014 is in conformity with the upward direction in which the Nust brand is moving,” he said.
