Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Ltd is keeping abreast with technological advancement and digitisation as it constantly invests in state-of-the-art equipment and machinery. The group’s subsidiary, National Printing and Packaging Company, has embraced new technology for plate making. Speaking after receiving the new machinery recently, Natprint general manager Mr Njabulo Nkomo said while some businesses had fallen by the wayside for failing to keep up with technology, the business unit had decided to take advantage of digitisation by embracing the changes it had brought with it.
“Digitisation does not mean you have to watch while you become irrelevant,” Mr Nkomo said. “It does not mean there is no more room for businesses that have been around for a long time. It simply means new equipment and opportunities have become available on the market.
“We have decided to embrace digitisation by procuring the latest equipment, in this case a new plate making machine.”
The CTP machine, said Mr Nkomo, is the latest of its kind and will improve efficiency, precision and reliability. This will also ensure that in all it does, Natprint will offer the best quality products for its customers.
This latest delivery comes hard on the heels of a new guillotine machine to Natprint. Zimpapers public relations and corporate affairs manager Ms Beatrice Tonhodzayi said this latest acquisition was in line with Zimpapers’ thrust to continuously innovate and adapt to the changing technological terrain businesses are operating in.
She said recapitalisation is one of the critical strategies that the company will continue to employ to ensure further growth and expansion.
