Zimpapers scribes shine at NJAMA

The Herald were awarded for mining, features and documentary reporting and information  communication reporting respectively.
Sunday Mail business editor Darlington Musarurwa was named the business reporter of the year.
The Manica Post senior reporter Samuel Kadungure scooped two awards in agriculture and health reporting. Ray Bande also scooped the energy reporter of the year. The Chronicle’s Thandeka Moyo shared the mining reporter of the year award with Maodza.
Guest of honour, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Walter Mzembi encouraged journalists to shun “hate speech” as it destroyed the profession’s moral standing.
“Media owners, editors and journalists should accept that they play very fundamental roles in society’s communication. Roles that, in the last analysis, determine whether a society’s communication system is preoccupied with worthwhile or useless issues, whether they are constructive or destructive, whether there is continuity of good values or these are obliterated in pursuit of nothing, whether complex issues are understood by the generality of the people or not, whether the people love or hate themselves.”
Minister Mzembi also encouraged media practitioners to use the platform presented by the UNWTO General Assembly to be held in Victoria Falls next year to market the country.
