ZIMPAPERS, the country’s largest diversified media organisation, was among the standout winners at the 116th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS), after receiving the award for the Best Media,Publishing and Communication Exhibit (Promoting Brand Zimbabwe) yesterday.
The awards ceremony, presided over by President Mnangagwa, celebrated excellence across a wide range of sectors represented at this year’s show.
Telecommunications giant Econet Wireless Zimbabwe emerged as the biggest winner of the day, claiming the prestigious Gold Winner’s Award as well as the Best ICT and Telecommunications Exhibit accolade.
Geo Pomona Waste Management received the award for the Best Environmental Conservation and Land Use Exhibit, while Dairibord Zimbabwe was honoured with the Best Agricultural Value Addition and Beneficiation Exhibit award.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development scooped two awards, winning both the Best Overall Stand Design and Visitor Engagement Award and the Best
Ministry Exhibit Award. Men BelievED was recognised as the Best Affiliate Stand.
The University of South Africa (UNISA) walked away with the Best Regional/International Exhibit Award, while the Council of Social Workers Zimbabwe was named the Best First-Time Commercial Exhibitor.
Seed Co Zimbabwe won the Best Garden Display Award, while the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) received the Best Agricultural Research and Digital
Innovation Exhibit Award. The University of Zimbabwe was recognised for the Best Education and Skills Development Exhibit.
In the agro-industrial category, Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe won the Best Agro-Processing and Food Systems Transformation Exhibit Award, while Mimosa Mining Company was named the winner of the Best Mining Value Addition Exhibit Award. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe received the Best Government Department Exhibit Award.
The Public Service Commission was awarded the Best Parastatal Exhibit Award, while the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service emerged as the winner of the Best Security Services Exhibit Award.
The City of Bulawayo was recognised as the Best Local Authority Exhibit.
Young Women4ED received the Best Local Enterprise Development Exhibit Award, while CABS won the Best Financial Services Exhibit Award.
The Rural Electrification Agency was honoured with the Best Energy and Power Sector Exhibit Award, while the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe won the Best Transport and Connectivity Exhibit Award.
In the agricultural production categories, Mr Antony Charehwa was named Cotton Grower of the Year, Ms Rhoda Shoko received the Best Female Cotton Grower of the Year Award, and Mr
Josphat Joe was recognised as the Best Youth Cotton Grower of the Year.
Mr Tafirei Ndlovu won the Tobacco Grower of the Year Award, while Tsando Muchadura was named the Overall Agri-Produce Winner and Penikati Mangwada received the Commercial Maize Winner Award.
Ms Faith Panganayi emerged as the Pfumvudza Winner, Mr Stephen Ndiyaba won the Small Stock Category Award, Nyanga Nyamahumba was recognised as the Best Village Business Unit, while
Dr Divine Ndhlukula was crowned the Overall Best Livestock Winner.
TelOne received the Best ICT Infrastructure Award, while Helcraw Water won the Best Affordable Housing and Urban Development Exhibit Award. The Ministry of Health and Child Care was recognised as the winner of the Best Healthcare Exhibit Award.
Zanu-PF received the Best Climate-Smart Agriculture Exhibit Award, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority won the Best Tourism and Hospitality Exhibit Award, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade took top honours in the International Trade and Investment category.
The 116th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show brought together exhibitors from across the country and beyond, showcasing innovations, investment opportunities and achievements across the agricultural value chain and other key sectors of the economy.
