Zimplats appoints new chairman

ZIMPLATS, the country’s biggest platinum miner, has appointed Dr Sydney Mufamadi as board chairman with effect from July 1, 2015.

Dr Mufamadi, who has been an independent non-executive director of Impala Platinum Holdings since March 5, 2015 and Zimplats non-executive director from May 1, 2015,  takes over from Mr Muchadeyi Masunda who has been acting as chair.

He holds MSc and PhD degrees and is also the current director of the School of Leadership at the University of Johannesburg.

Other board members effective July 1 are Dr Sydney Mufamadi (chair), Mr Masunda (deputy chair), Mr Alex Mhembere (CEO), Mr Stewart Mangoma (chief finance officer), Brenda Berlin, Mr Terence Goodlace, Dr Khotso Mokhele, Leslie Paton, Mr Zacharias Swanepoel and Mr Nyasha Zhou.
