ZIMPLOW Holdings has shuffled its top management and have appointed Mr Mark Hullet as chief executive to replace Mr Zondi Kumwenda. The group also announced the retirement of Mr Zed Rusike as chairman. Mr Rusike will be replaced by Mr Thomas Chataika. In a statement, Zimplow said Mr Rusike will retire from the position of board chairman on November 26, 2015 and also as non-executive director and a member of the human resources committee of the board.
Mr Rusike has been director and chairman of Zimplow Holdings Limited since 2010 and saw the transition of the company from Zimplow Limited to Zimplow Holdings Limited. “He made outstanding contributions to the company over the past five years. His retirement is part of his desire to step down on a number of boards and concentrate on boards where he has interests,” said the company.
Mr Rusike will be replaced by Mr Thomas Chataika as board chairman with effect from November 26, 2015. Mr Chataika is a chartered accountant with experience in investment and financial management across a number of sectors.
Group chief executive Mr Kumwenda will be stepping down with effect from December 31, 2015 and he will also be retiring as a board member of Zimplow Holdings and its subsidiaries.
He joined Zimplow in 1996 and rose through the ranks to become firstly, managing director of Mealie Brand then chief executive of Zimplow and finally group chief executive of Zimplow Holdings Limited which incorporated Tractive Power Holdings. “During his tenure he transformed Zimplow from a purely animal drawn agricultural equipment supplier to a formidable mechanised agricultural and mining equipment supplier. He doubled the balance sheet of the company within two years of becoming chief executive,” said the company in a statement.
Zimplow said Mr Kumwenda leaves to pursue other business interests and in particular ministry work. He will be replaced by former TSL Limited chief operating officer Mr Hulett as group chief executive with effect from January 1, 2016.
Mr Hulett has experience in both the agricultural and mining sectors which are the key central sectors to the Group’s business. He is a holder of Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree from the University of Adelaide.
