He said Zimbabwe Postal Services was facing many challenges in its bid to provide quality services to its customers.
“As a country, we have no doubt that postal service plays a pivotal role in poverty alleviation and regional integration.
“With the challenges that the sector is facing as a result of internal and external developments such as globalisation, new communication technologies and opening up of the sector, it is imperative that Zimpost crafts and implements strategies centred on quality service delivery and enhanced focus on the customer to survive the tide,” he said.
He said that the creation of the regulatory framework that provides for the introduction of competition, with private sector participation calls for improved quality services so as to survive the competition.
“Our sector regulatory authority, Potraz, has the mandate to ensure that the postal sector players continue to deliver quality services and churn out new services, especially ICT-based products in line with changing customer needs that are shaped and informed by global influences,’ said Minister Goche.
He added that the challenge for the sector is to ensure that the rural folk who constitute about 60 percent of the population in Africa should also be included in all the plans, solutions and strategies that the forum would come up with.
