Celebrated choral group ZimPraise have returned home jubilant after conquering Europe and the United States where they staged shows for Zimbabweans in the Diaspora and gospel music lovers from other nations.
The group rose to fame after taking the nation by storm with their songs like “Sungano”, “Covenant” and “Musandikanganwe”.
The tour which took the group to the United Kingdom twice this year confirmed the choir’s growing popularity beyond the Zimbabwean borders.
ZimPraise spokesman Tendai Zhou said the tour was a resounding success.
“Like all our tours, we had good reception whether in Europe or in America because it has always been about Jesus.
“We had good crowds at most of the shows while a few others we had average turnouts,” he said.
Zhou said a DVD of the tour which they put together in the UK and America will be launched mid November.
“We were not just touring but we worked flat out to ensure that we bring the best sound to meet international standards,” Zhou said.
The choir started their world tour in August in the UK with a performance at the Mission to London Conference and the “Afripraise Concert”.
As part of the “Afripraise Concert”, the choir performed in Scotland, Manchester and Watford. There were other Zimbabwean voices that were featured during the tour including Thembalami, Mkhululi Bhebhe, Obert Mazivisa, Wellington Kwenda and ZCC brass band.
While in the UK, the choir also had a rare moment when they performed alongside Prophetess Ivy Kombo on stage.
“It was amazing that Prophetess Ivy Kombo joined the group and thrilled the audience with her popular song ‘Handidzokere shure’ that was like the highlight,” Zhou said.
ZimPraise had the opportunity to minister in front of world known preachers such as Bishop Francis and Bishop TD Jakes at the Ruach City Ministries.
The choir also ministered at the Morris Cerrullo Mission to London conference in front of other world known preachers who include Creflo Dollar, Tommy Barnet and Morris Cerrullo.
In Dallas Texas, the US , the choir performed at the Concord Church before a big crowd and were interviewed on Fox News Chanel 8.
ZimPraise was founded by Madziyire who at 27 has become the youngest chief executive to lead an inter-denominational group of up to 120 members.
The groups first live DVD was released in 2011 and their fan base continues to grow with each concert with the last live DVD recording drawing a record crowd of 13 000 at a gig held Glamis Stadium.
Zhou said the group is already working on preparations for Christmas and New Year’s gigs ahead of their tour of Australia next year.
