AWARD-WINNING interdenominational choral group, Zimpraise Choir, have described the just-ended Zimbabwe Music Festival (ZimFest) Live UK experience as mind-blowing and memorable.
The gospel outfit was the opening act at the two-day festival held at Hertfordshire County Showgrounds, St Albans, England.
What makes their performances memorable is that they did not only perform and impress during their stint but the group managed to play for other musicians as well as Feli Nandi and Baba Harare.
Speaking at the sidelines of the show, Zimpraise chief executive and founder member, Joseph Madziyire, said their curtain-raising was a warm-up ahead of their festival here on Saturday.
“We were very happy to have been the first group to perform at the festival,” he said.
“To us, it was more of a litmus test ahead of our show dubbed AfriPraise this Saturday at Gaumont Theatre in Central London.
“Somehow, being the first act is hard as you are supposed to set the tone for the festival for the next performers.
“We managed to pull through that.”
Clad in a black-and-white outfit the group, which performed for 35 minutes as scheduled, belted out the crowd’s favourite tunes such as Hoyo Mushandiri and Ndiri Mweya.
“This was a special invitation and we were like a special act.
“The fans loved us and this made us have more confidence in preparation for the next show.
“We also played for Feli Nandi and Baba Harare on instrumentals and it was awesome, it came out well.
“Now, we are busy with rehearsals, we want to give fans value for their money.
“The programme will be released tomorrow (Friday) so that fans are aware when their favourite act is performing.
“Zimpraise’s tour will end this weekend at a show which will feature some of the regional and local gospel musicians performing at the 4000 seater venue.
ZimFest featured musicians such as Tocky Vibes, Freeman HKD, Killer T, Baba Harare, Holy Ten, Feli Nandi, Berita, Kae Chaps, ShaSha, Musa Keys, Stunner, Saintfloew, ExQ, Crooger, Kikky and Dj Tamuka.
