All is set for the Hymns Night 2 concert to be hosted by popular interdenominational gospel choir Zimpraise at the Rainbow Towers tomorrow. The Hymn Night, which will see some of the top acts such as Mudiwa, Kuda Mutsvene and Zimpraise Kids among others performing, will be recorded live. The show is running under the theme, ‘‘Uncovering the Ancient Wells’’. In an interview, Zimpraise co-founder and chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire said all is set for the event.“Hymn Night is all about going back in time and remembering the power of hymn music. I am happy with how the tickets are selling and, since this is the second edition, we hope to do better than the first one as we have worked well on the preparations,” he said.
Madziyire said the songs are from different churches and they have added their renditions.
“These songs were not written by people because they were trying to build a career in music or make money, but they were written with deep understanding of the word of God. We are not moving away from writing new music which is good, but we are just remembering the testimony of our faith. The hymns are from various churches,” he said.
He said the show will start in the afternoon with a section in which they will present old Zimpraise songs.
“We are starting the show 2pm prompt with a rewind concert in which we will play old Zimpraise songs just to minister to all our fans. We will have the live recording in the evening of which we are doing about 30 hymns this year,” he said.
Madziyire said the live DVD will be on sale a few weeks after to allow room for proper edits. Director and choreographer in the Zimpraise Kids said his choir has matured musically and they have been slotted more time.
“We are geared to perform and this time around the kids will sing a number of songs compared to last time. The kids will perform some of the hymns in their own versions. In between their performance we are going to speak out against child abuse and child marriages.”
