IT’S a nation, which badly needed prayers this weekend, after the school bus disaster in Nyanga.
Six students of Tynwald High School perished when their bus overturned.
Choral group Zimpraise’s 15th anniversary provided the prayers and, much more, on Saturday.
The event will go down in memory as one of Zimbabwe’s most subscribed gospel events of all-time.
Going by the sheer numbers, which turned up at Glamis Arena on Saturday for their live DVD recording concert, the event lived up to its billing.
Despite entry being free, one can be forgiven for concluding that gospel fans have finally found their own hunting space.
The concert also featured popular South African gospel group, Joyous Celebration, as a guest act.

Joyous Celebration leader Jabu Hlongwane said “they came, they saw and they conquered”.
Local acts, including Michael Mahendere, Mathias Mhere, Jonah Chivasa, Marbel Madondo, Eleano Makombe, Blessing Annatoria and Tawanda Midzi, among others, also performed at the anniversary.
Zimpraise chief executive officer, Joseph Madziyire, was proud of the outcome.
“Saturday was a success. A very emotional day for me and everyone at Zimpraise.
“Everything went according to plan and I am grateful for the sponsorship we received for us to host the event free of charge.
“The huge turnout means a lot to me,” said Madziyire.
He said the event will silence all gospel music critics.

“Gospel music is still in the game and I am happy with how we have managed to grow despite the challenges, fights and tribulations.
“The DVD will be out soon and we will be happy to share it with the rest of the world,” said Madziyire.
One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of choreographer Enock Chisale, during Mathias Mhere’s act, and his art was loved by many.
Rising rhumba gospel artist, Benjamin Rupapa, also entertained gospel fans with some nimble-footed dance moves.
The concert had one of the best lighting and sound systems for local shows.
The event was emceed by Comic Pastor, Nigel ‘Slick Pastor’ Maritinyu, and radio personality Noxy Divine Diva.
