Celebrated gospel group, ZimPraise Choir, is set to usher music lovers into the New Year in style when they stage a mega praise concert at the Harare International Conference Centre on January 1.ZimPraise chief executive Joseph Madziyire said the show was all about Jesus and not the group.
“As the host, everything in now in place. There are lots of surprises and we will be singing some of our songs that were not recorded on our current live DVD and CD. The show comes on the backdrop of a successful ‘Sungano’ tour in the UK and Dubai,” Madziyire said.
Man-of-the-moment Mathias Mhere, who is riding high with his fresh album “Nguva Yenyasha”, said he was raring to go.
“I’m more than ready for the show and my fans should come in their numbers as I will sampling some of the new songs off my forthcoming album due for release in 2014.
“We will be celebrating the Lord for giving us a chance to live in the New Year,” he said.
Other artistes billed to perform include Tembalami, Worship Addicts and Ultimate Worship. ZimPraise successfully held a United Kingdom-Dubai Tour.
According to reports, the star-studded gospel outfit exceeded expectations as the choir delivered a performance that was “nothing short of international standard”.
The choir is riding high with the song “Sungano” which is topping charts on most stations in Zimbabwe. “Sungano” is off the choir’s sixth live DVD album titled “It’s All About Jesus” and it features Lawrence Haisa and Mhere, among other top singers. ZimPraise has been in existence for a decade under the watchful eye of award-winning producer McDonald “McDee” Chidavaenzi and Madziyire.
