The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) is holding a breakfast meeting to engage with Beitbridge border agencies and businesses with a view to share experiences and find ways to improve the ease of doing business.
Acting regional manager, Mr Timothy Manatsire, said it was critical that the revenue collector engages with other stakeholders to give feedback on critical operational issues.
He said trade facilitation can only be a success where there is a shared vision and collaboration among the stakeholders.
Mr Manatsire said efficiencies had steadily improved at the Beitbridge Border Post following the completion of the US$300 million project.
He said Zimra had also automated services and was using drones and the canine section to enforce customs laws and prevent intrusive leakages through the border.
The meeting is being attended by various stakeholders including customs clearing agents, businessmen, small to medium enterprises, among others.
Beitbridge plays a key role in regional and international trade, handling at least 1,000 commercial trucks, 200 buses, 2,000 light vehicles, and 14,000 travellers daily.
It links South Africa with at least nine SADC countries by road.
