A routine customs inspection by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) led to the discovery of a concealed and undeclared firearm hidden in a traveller’s suitcase at Plumtree Border Post.
In a statement posted on social media, Zimra said the interception underscores the vigilance and professionalism of its officers.
“The team’s decisive action halted the illegal movement of the firearm, directly protecting communities and reinforcing the safety and security of civil society,” said the authority.
Zimra also reminded travellers of their legal obligation to declare all goods in their possession when crossing the border.
“All travellers are legally required to declare all goods in their possession at the border. Compliance is essential for lawful and efficient cross-border movement,” reads the statement
