In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the purported recruitment notice was not issued by the police and should be treated as a hoax.
“The ZRP dismisses a false and misleading statement circulating on social media regarding the recruitment of police officers. Members of the public are advised to disregard the statement,” he said.
Commissioner Nyathi emphasised that any official communication regarding recruitment into the police service would be released through recognised Zimbabwe Republic Police channels.
“The ZRP will issue a statement on recruitment through its official communication channels at the appropriate time,” he said.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by unverified information, particularly on social media platforms where misinformation is often spread.
Commissioner Nyathi also encouraged citizens seeking clarification on police matters to use official contact channels.
“For inquiries or clarification, members of the public are free to contact the National Complaints Desk on (024) 2703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197,” he said.
The police have in recent months warned against the proliferation of fake recruitment messages, which in some instances have been used by unscrupulous individuals to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.
