The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) will conduct the 2025 Economic Census listing exercise from September 16 to December 31, 2024.
The listing exercise entails collecting information for use in compiling a comprehensive inventory or directory of all businesses and establishments within Zimbabwe.
In a statement, Zimstat public relations and communications manager, Mrs Mercy Chidemo said the information collected relates to the registered name and address, trading name, registration and operating status of the establishment.
Mrs Chidemo said the information will also relate to the main economic activity, turnover and capacity utilisation.
“Listing of establishments is being done in preparation for the economic census data collection exercise which is expected to commence in April 2025 and end in June 2026,” she said.
“Every person who is an owner, manager or acting as the head of the establishment during the economic census shall ensure that information required is supplied.
“Any person who contravenes this shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding level 6 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year or to both.”
Mrs Chidemo said the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency seeks cooperation from all stakeholders.
She also said the collected information will be treated as strictly confidential and used for statistical purposes only.
Mrs Chidemo said more information about the 2025 Economic Census listing exercise can be obtained from the agency’s provincial managers or statisticians nationwide.
