Several Zimbabwean companies will be participating at the inaugural outward seller mission in Dubai that begins today.

The event, which has been organised by the country’s trade development and promotion organisation, Zimtrade, will see 10 Zimbabwean companies taking part.

The outward seller mission will start with a  business conference scheduled to start today (17 May 2021), followed by a series of B2B meetings that will end on 19 May 2021.

Zimtrade chairperson, Clara Mlambo will give key note remarks on behalf of Zimtrade.

According to Zimtrade, the objective of the outward mission to Dubai is to establish supply linkages between Zimbabwean producers and Dubai sellers.

A pre-mission held by Zimtrade in January revealed buyers in Dubai are interested in procuring avocadoes, blueberries, citrus, peas, sweet potatoes, coffee, and tea.

Local producers that are attending the Dubai outward mission include producers of horticulture produce like Nuts (macadamia and peacuns), dates, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes, Citrus fruit, fresh or dried, Tea, whether flavoured or not. Other vegetables, fresh or chilled, apples, pears, stone fruits and deciduous fruits and berries.

Zimtrade is of the opinion that if local companies take charge of the opportunities that lie within this sector and target the right markets, there is potential to grow their export volumes.

In order to maximise this opportunity, participating local producers were selected according to their ability, readiness and commitment to export locally manufactured quality products.
