Zimunya’s contract with Masvingo United expired on December 31, 2011 and he said he would not renew it.
“I think I played my part for the team last season but unfortunately we were relegated.
“As players, I think we were affected by the limited financial support that came to motivate us.
“At times morale was just low and I’m not prepared to stay with them in Division One this coming season” said Zimunya.
The 24-year-old former Eastern Lions player said he is now weighing his options ahead of the new season.
“It’s certain that I am not going back at Masvingo for now but at the same time I am still weighing my options,” said Zimunya.
Zimunya, who once had a stint at the now-defunct CAPS FC, said he is not rushing to sign a contract as he is still considering offers.
“There are three clubs in the Premiership who are interested but I have to consider my personal welfare too.
“I do not want to rush and sign a contract that I might regret later.
“One team has offered me a year’s deal while the other wants two years but all the clubs want to stager their payments to me and this now is a sticking point. There is a possibility that I could play in one of the
neighbouring countries like South Africa or Botswana if the chance presents itself,” said Zimunya.
Another key player from Masvingo United’s squad of last season, Isaac Chapura, is also understood to be on his way out while goalkeeper Francis Tizayi has crossed to join FC Platinum.
“Most of the senior guys are leaving the club,” said Zimunya.
Masvingo were relegated from the Premiership after losing 2-0 to Monomotapa in their last game last season.
