THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) is holding its 9th annual general meeting (AGM), which is the first to be held within six months after the closure of its financial year in the organisation’s history.

The AGM will review the organisation’s performance, financial status and strategic direction.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco, the chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport and Infrastructural Development, Tawanda Karikoga, Zinara board chairperson Dr George Manyaya, Zinara chief executive officer Mr Nkosinathi Ncube and senior Government officials are attending the meeting.

In his welcome remarks, Dr Manyaya commended the senior officials’ attendance, which he said underscored a collective commitment to improving and sustaining Zimbabwe’s critical road infrastructure.

“This is the first AGM in ZINARA’s history to be held within six months after the closure of the financial year,” he said.

“ZINARA was behind with its audit and worked diligently to bring it up to date. The fruits of our hard work have manifested today as we held our AGM to review the performance of the previous year and gather current feedback, which will be implemented to improve ZINARA further.

“Thank you to the Office of the Auditor General for your support. This past year, 2024, whose report and financial statements we are presenting here for consideration, has been one of remarkable progress and dedication.”

Dr Manyaya said he was delighted to announce that for the second successive year, ZINARA’s 2024 financial accounts are unqualified.

“This means, for the second consecutive year, ZINARA has a clean audit report. This significant achievement is a testament to the hard work and diligence that have resolved most of the problematic issues affecting our operations and the quality of our accounts in previous years,” he said.

“It reflects our unwavering commitment to good governance, financial prudence, transparency and accountability. We are also incredibly proud of the significant contribution the Road Fund made towards the successful hosting of the 44th SADC Summit in 2024.

“Our contribution to the funding for road rehabilitation, in preparation for this vital regional event, showcased the direct impact of your contributions and strategic support. We are continually exploring innovative funding models to sustain the Road Fund and fully support our Road Authorities.”
