THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has demonstrated its commitment to national development and community empowerment after donating sanitary dignity packs to more than 200 girls at Gosha Secondary School near Juru Growth Point in Mashonaland East province.
Zinara employees actively participated in this noble initiative through mobilising part of the funds used to buy the sanitary dignity packs.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Wednesday, Zinara revenue operations director, Mrs Patience Shuro, said the organisation believes in uplifting lives, adding that the empowerment of communities is central to its core values and mission.
“As Zinara, we are deeply committed to the well-being of the communities we serve,” said Mrs Shuro.
“Supporting causes that address education and health challenges is not only our responsibility, but a reflection of our core values.”
Mrs Shuro said the provision of the dignity packs is aimed at addressing the stigma and barriers associated with menstrual health, a challenge that continues to affect the education and future of many girls across Zimbabwe.
She emphasised the importance of ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, stating that: “No girl should feel ashamed or hindered by this natural and essential biological process.
“Menstruation is a sign of health and strength, and we want our young girls to embrace it with pride.”
The gesture by Zinara was part of the organisation’s broader commitment to foster sustainable development in Zimbabwe.
Beyond improving road infrastructure, Zinara is actively investing in programmes that uplift underprivileged communities, create opportunities, and promote inclusivity, said Mrs Shuro.
“You (the students) are the future leaders, scientists, doctors and entrepreneurs of our nation. Work hard in your studies, respect your teachers, and support one another,” she said.
Zinara head of corporate communications and marketing Mrs Tsungie Manyeza said the organisation is a strategic social partner committed to work closely with all stakeholders in communities it operates from.
“Through our corporate special responsibility policy, we believe we have a social contract with communities that we work from and it is our duty to invest in them,” said Mrs Manyeza.
“The material that we handed over here today will go a long way in helping our young girls to live a healthy and dignified life.”
Gosha Secondary School head Mr John Mukarati hailed Zinara for its generosity and implored the organisation to continue empowering the school in other spheres.
“We are grateful for this gesture by Zinara and its partners,” he said.
“This kind of recognition is not something that we were expecting and we also implore Zinara to consider assisting us in other areas so that we can fully empower our kids.”
