Zinatha disowns bogus traditional healers

The Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association (Zinatha) has distanced itself from some of the traditional healers who are advertising in the local Press, claiming that they can cure all diseases. Mr George Kandiero, the Zinatha spokesperson, said the majority of the traditional healers that are advertising their services are bogus and not registered with his association.

“A few individuals have penetrated our association but the majority of them are not our members. As Zinatha, we are totally against such traditional healers since they are putting the reputation of traditional medicine into disrepute,” Mr Kandiero said.

According to Mr Kandiero, some of the claims that are being made by the bogus traditional healers sounds more like miracles.
“In one advert, one traditional healer was claiming that he can help bring back a lost lover in a space of three days. To me, this sounds more like a miracle. As an association, we cannot stand aside and look whilst our clients are being promised blue lies,” added Mr Kandiero.

Mr Kandiero said the bogus traditional healers are taking advantage of desperate people whom they are milking of their hard-earned cash.
“We are appealing to the local media to verify with us first before publishing such advertisements. Such adverts must be cleared by the Traditional Medicine Practitioners Council (TIMPC) before they are published,” added Mr Kandiero.
