Zinwa scoops prestigious award

mark World Standards Day last week.
In receiving the award the authority joins the growing list of other companies that have been recipients since 2006.
Zinwa was rewarded for initiating work on the development of nine national standards on boreholes and its participation in the development of the standard on the B-type bush pumps.
In addition, the adjudicators in their citation also noted that Zinwa is lobbying for the inclusion of the final national standards on boreholes to be reference in regulation to ensure the efficient and effective development, maintenance and management of Zimbabwe’s ground water resources.
Zinwa has already commenced promoting the final draft standard in the borehole-drilling sector.
Zinwa director for groundwater services and drilling operations Mr Samuel Sunguro also received the 2012 Technical Member Award for his role in the Standards Association of Zimbabwe’s Technical Committees.
Mr Sungiro’s award was a recognition by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe of his commitment to the voluntary work that he is doing in two technical committees on groundwater resources where he is vice chairman.
The citation read before he was presented with his award noted that he had attended all meetings, voluntarily taken on action items and has facilitated the hosting of working group meetings by his organisation.
In addition, there was recognition of his strong conviction that standards are the basis for effective development of resources and their subsequent sustainable management.
Commenting on the awards, Zinwa corporate communications manager Mrs Marjorie Munyonga said the awards once again demonstrate the sterling efforts by Zinwa to ensure the effective and sustainable management of the country’s water resources.
“We have once again been honoured for the tireless efforts which we have always invested towards the standardisation of groundwater resources exploitation and utilisation.
“Naturally this recognition elates and energises us to fulfil our legal mandate,” said Mrs Munyonga.
