“The youth must learn to become self-reliant in terms of generating money for their business projects. Depending on finances from the West can be detrimental to the nation. In cases where there is no money people will just be making a lot of noise. We cannot get resources elsewhere, but as youth, we should be able to fund our projects from our own resources.
“The question is, how do we do it as Zimbabweans, how do we make money? We must be successful in this country if we are to become powerful. God has given us copper, gold and diamonds, and let’s utilise those resources. Nobody is going to change our society for us, we cannot look to the North, East or West, it is up to us,” said the minister.
Minister Kasukuwere thanked Reverend Happiness Gotora for organising the event.
“I am very encouraged with the leadership of the young unions here. It’s good that we are fellowshipping together. As a community we should be able to do this more often,” he said.
Minister Kasukuwere urged the youths to put their differences aside and to build a project he termed “Zimbabwe Together”.
Also in attendance at the event was the Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs Gender and Community Development, who is also the member of the House Assembly for Harare West, Ms Jessie Majome’ Principal Director in the Ministry of Finance Mr Pfungwa Kureva and Brigadier-General Celestino Basera.
