Zinwa urges farmers to settle bills

campaign to educate farmers on the importance of paying.
In an interview at the Harare Agricultural Show on Monday, Zinwa public relations manager Mrs Marjorie Munyonga said the authority had tried to make the farmers pay up but with little success.

“Farmers are not heeding to the call to pay for water maybe because they are still to understand the importance of applying and paying for water use.

“This has in turn caused problems as farmers usually end up at each other’s throat over amounts of water as there is no planning on their part,” Mrs Munyonga said. She said when applying for a water permit, a farmer gets the amount of water that is available. “Because they are not applying for water they end up over planting or planting low hectarage.”
