Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau, yesterday said police and the Matapure family from Waterfalls were looking for three-year-old boy Given Flint Matapure who went missing at the Exhibition Park on Monday afternoon.
“The show has progressed on smoothly except these two cases of theft. The first incident, which happened between Saturday night and Sunday morning saw a company exhibiting solar cellphone chargers losing chargers worth US$140. There were two guards there and we have since picked them for questioning.
“The other case involves someone who alleges he lost US$488, which included his personal and company money, on Monday while he was closing his business. We are still investigating the case,” he said. He said companies should employ security guards from reputable firms.
Insp Sabau urged the public to be wary of thieves during the busiest days at the show.
“Traditionally, days like tomorrow (today) and Saturdays when there are fireworks would be busy and thieves come and as such we are urging members of the public to be wary of such people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Matapure family of 125 Shortstone in Waterfalls is looking for their son, Given Flint who had gone to the show together with his 15-year old sister, Grace and the family maid. His father said they were offering a reward of US$1 000 for any information leading to the whereabouts of Given. Members of the public who may have come across the toddler are requested to contact the nearest police station.
