ZITF supremo Dr Nicholas Ndebele was left stunned and speechless yesterday after flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo handed him the keys to a brand new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 VXR, worth US$200 000!
The surprise handover happened at Faramatsi Motors, and left jaws on the floor. This wasn’t just any gift, it was a rolling statement of power, prestige and praise following the blockbuster 65th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), dubbed the Blue Sapphire edition.
“I’m extremely grateful for this very generous gesture,” said a clearly emotional Dr Ndebele. “It’s not just about me, it’s a recognition of the tireless work put into making ZITF a world-class event.”
The ZITF boss, hailed for pulling off an event that drew 800+ exhibitors from 30+ countries, said the vehicle symbolises the power of teamwork and national pride.
The monster machine, known for its off-road dominance and luxury feel, is now the envy of executives across Zimbabwe.
But hold up, this isn’t the end of the ride! Another handover ceremony is on the cards, as ZITF board chair Mr Busisa Moyo missed the first event.
Speaking at the handover, Doves & Faramatsi Group PR manager Innocent Tshuma confirmed: “Mr Moyo will be honoured next – we’re not done yet!”
Wicknell “Sir Wicknell” Chivayo, who’s been on a high-profile gifting spree, praised both Dr Ndebele and Moyo for “putting Bulawayo at the heart of regional commerce.”
“What they achieved was massive! ZITF proved that Bulawayo is not just historic, it’s the future of Southern African business,” Chivayo declared.
