Proprietor of Bulawayo-based motorsport hub ZKS Spinners Arena, Zakhele “Mabaso” Mlilo, has been hailed by the Ministry of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs as a community leader dedicated to improving lives through various empowerment initiatives.
In a statement, the ministry commended Mlilo for his philanthropic efforts, which continue to uplift communities across Bulawayo and the Matabeleland region. The certificate of appreciation was presented by the Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube.
“The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, under the Office of the President and Cabinet, would like to sincerely appreciate ZKS Spinners Arena for your continued support in advancing our programmes and strengthening our community,” read part of the statement.

Mlilo has become widely recognised for his involvement in youth empowerment, community development and support for vulnerable groups.
In 2025, ZKS Spinners Arena hosted youth empowerment and anti-drug abuse campaigns, using motorsport as a tool to engage young people and steer them away from drug and substance abuse. This aligned with Mlilo’s vision which is to transform spinning from merely being a sport into a sustainable source of livelihood for youths.
As part of his birthday celebrations, Mlilo also donated blankets and tools to inmates at Khami Maximum Prison to assist them during the winter season.
Following a successful event hosted at the arena in August, Mlilo donated 100 bags of mealie meal to the Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, which were later distributed to underprivileged communities in Bulawayo.
In November, ZKS Spinners Arena collaborated with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Bulawayo Metropolitan Province to host the Commissioner General’s Goodwill Trust Fund Half Marathon through a Charity Burnouts event held at the arena.
The Commissioner General’s Goodwill Trust Fund was established to support orphans of deceased officers, widows, widowers, as well as officers injured on duty or discharged from service due to medical reasons.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, Mlilo said he was honoured to be acknowledged for initiatives that promote community involvement and uplift livelihoods.
He added that ZKS Spinners Arena continues to host events that create employment opportunities and promote local businesses in Bulawayo.
