ZLGU receives sponsorship

Club to host visiting teams in this year’s Regional All-Africa Challenge Trophy.
The tournament is slated for Royal Harare from July 1 to 3.
ZLGU public relations officer, Helen van Rensburg, said preparations for the event are at an advanced stage.
“We had a meeting of the organising committee last week and the Royal and Ancient will assist us as the host country.
“The union is now busy canvassing with local sponsors for the tournament and publicity costs.
“The initial information brochure and entry forms have been sent out to the Southern Region countries, with South Africa and Botswana having already confirmed their participation,” Rensburg said.
Meanwhile Chapman utilised home advantage to win the Gaby Tomplison Trophy recently.
The tournament featured four clubs with Royal and Wingate playing in the morning round while Chapman took on Borrowdale Brooke.
Royal and Wigate went into a four-hole playoff for the right to meet Chapman in the finals, which Chapman won convincingly.
Borrowdale Brooke beat Wingate to take the Shield.
The Gaby is a club event, with six players in a team.
Gaby Tomlinson was a low handicap golfer from Royal who donated the trophy over 50 years ago.
