THE curtain will come down on the 2017 Zimbabwe National Army Chief of Staff All Comers shoot competition at Cleveland Rifle Range tomorrow. The tournament roared into life on Monday with participants drawn from the country’s security forces, war veterans and other clubs affiliated to the National Rifle Association of Zimbabwe taking part. Alphios Makotore, the director of Army Public Relations, said the event comes as a preview of the major shooting competitions that will come during the season.
“The week-long competition is an annual event which comes as a precursor to other shooting competitions such as the Commander ZNA Skill at Arms Meeting to be held in June and the President’s Medal Shoot which comes later in July this year,” he said.
Makotore added that the competition is organised to sharpen the skills of members of the uniformed forces as well as offer a platform for interaction with members of the public.
“The primary aim and objective of the All-Comers Shoot is to provide an opportunity for competitive training as well as to gauge the level of shooting standards throughout the uniformed forces,” he said.
“It also offers an important platform for uniformed forces and civilians to interact freely in a competitive environment.” The Chief of General Staff, Major General Trust Mugoba, will present prizes to winners and deliver a keynote address on Friday to mark the official end of the competition.
