THE Zimbabwe National Army’s Ordinance and Transport Training School has been hailed for its stance in enrolling serving female officers as that addresses different needs and experiences of men and women to achieve fairness.
In his keynote address at the combined graduation of nine logistics courses at the school’s graduation ceremony held at Khumalo barracks Friday, Colonel quartermaster staff, Colonel Tryvern Nkoma said the enrolment of female officers was in line with the Zimbabwe Gender Commission policy which emphasises promoting equality, equity and inclusivity between women and men by offering equal opportunities in accessing education, employment and other resources.
A total of 271 officers of which 54 were females, graduated.
“I am delighted to recognize the presence of a number of female students and it is in this regard that I urge the school to continue its stance of enrolling female serving members in line with the Zimbabwe Gender Commission policy which emphasises promoting equality, equity and inclusivity.
It further addresses the different needs and experiences of men and women to achieve fairness,” said Çol Nkoma.
He said the graduating courses fall under four Quartermaster Staff sponsored Corps which are Ordinance, Transport, Procument and Electrical Mechanical and Engineering.
Col Nkoma said courses graduating under the sponsorship of Ordinance are three, catering and two stores courses.
“Secondly, there are transport senior non commissioned officers administration course and the Basic Learner
Driver’s Course. In addition, there is Procurement junior non commissioned officers course which is run under the auspices of Directorate of Procument while the recovery operations course is run under the Electrical Mechanical and Engineering Corps,” said Col Nkoma.
