ZNCC AGM kicks off

The ZNNC will have its AGM this afternoon before the congress starts tomorrow. Elections for the chamber’s national leadership will be held during the AGM.

The theme for the congress is “Turning Recovery Into Accelerated Growth — Towards A Hundred Billion Economy”.

“The planning is going on very well with over 100 delegates having registered so far,” said the ZNCC president Mr Oswell Binha.

Industry and Commerce Minister Professor Welshman Ncube is expected to officially open the congress while Vice-President Joice Mujuru will be the guest of honour at the chamber’s presidential dinner.

Prof Ncube is expected to present a paper on how the Government envisages achieving accelerated growth of the economy through the Industrial Development Policy and the National Trade Policy.

The policies were launched early this year.

Chairman of the Rwanda Chamber of Commerce Mr Faustin Kananura will give a key note address at the congress where topics on infrastructure rehabilitation and policy environment are expected to take centre stage.

“Topics on policy environment with emphasis on how the Industrial Development Policy and the National Trade Policy will facilitate economic growth will be presented.

“On infrastructure, a paper premised on the need for infrastructural development to accelerate economic growth will be discussed and also a topic brainstorming the innovative ways to unlock local liquidity in an environment characterised by lack of foreign direct investment is expected to come under discussion,” he said.

“Our international guest speaker is Mr Namara Hannington from the Private Sector Federation in Rwanda. He is the chief executive officer of Private Sector Federation — an umbrella organisation that coordinates, promotes and represents interests of the business entities in Rwanda.”

Other speakers include TN Holdings group chief executive Mr Tawanda Nyambirai, Africa Development Bank regional manager Mr Ebrima Faal, as well as Oxlink Capital Investments chief executive officer Mr Brains Muchemwa.
