ZNSSA secretary-general, Wellington Mpandare, yesterday said the tickets will be distributed to regions with registered members of the association set to benefit.
The Benjani Mwaruwari Testimonial match, which is expected to be graced by some of the best talents to emerge from the continent, has attracted interest beyond the borders.
The tickets went on sale yesterday with the cheapest going for US$5.
However, some selected fans will have an opportunity to watch the match free after the association secured sponsorship for the tickets, transport and T-shirts.
“ZNSSA will give out 1000 ticket, 1000 t-shirts and free transport to and from the stadium. Supporters should get in touch with their regional representatives and we expect them to assemble at no. 20 Lanark Road in Belgravia on Saturday 09.30am,” the organisation’s vice-president, Paddington Japajapa, said in a statement. “We have been in touch with the regional representatives who are compiling the lists. “These lists should be submitted to secretary-general Mpandare by end of day Thursday (tomorrow).
“We call upon all soccer loving Zimbabweans to come in their hundreds of thousands to attend this biggest farewell function for one of Zimbabwean soccer’s most illustrious football player, who has distinguished himself as a gentleman on and off the field of play.
“Benjani Mwaruwari has contributed, immensely to the development of football locally and internationally where he has been very successful on the field of play and as a business person. Benjani has shown the nation how football can be used to unite the people. He has been a gentleman on and off the field of play and this has endeared him a lot with many professionals and international soccer players, who have accepted his invitation to his testimonial match.”
Japajapa said they will stage roadshows to boost interest in the testimonial.
The CBZ branches selling the tickets are in Bulawayo (Eighth Avenue, Main, Fife); Mutare (Main), Masvingo, Kwekwe, Gweru, Marondera, Chegutu, Bindura, Chinhoyi, Beitbridge and in Harare (Avondale, Sapphire, Southerton, Highfield, Kwame Nkrumah, Westgate, Msasa, Borrowdale, Samora Machel, Selous Avenue, Robert Mugabe, Cripps, Newlands) and in Chitungwiza.
