ZIFA Southern Region Division One log leaders ZPC Hwange will tomorrow engage in a top of the table clash against Zimbabwe Saints in what promises to be an exciting encounter that will be played at Chakona ground.
The power generators are yet to register a defeat in 18 outings and they sit at the apex of the log standings with 48 points, a massive 17 points ahead of Chauya Chikwata who are placed fourth.
In their previous match, the Mabelo Njwekwa mentored Hwange side played a nil all away draw against Talen Vision while Zimbabwe Saints thumbed Zebra Revolution 3-1.
For a positive result against Zimbabwe Saints, ZPC Hwange will pin their hopes on their predatory striker Justin Kaunda and instrumental goalkeeper Harmony Nare who has conceded only six goals this season. Nare is optimistic that this time around they will clinch the league title.
“We have had our ups and downs, but I’m proud of the progress we have made as a team. We have worked hard to build a strong squad and it is paying off. With our team leading, our target for the season is to win the league title and it will be a historic feat for us because it has been 38 years since the team was formed. But, we will be taking it one game at a time, but we are confident in our abilities and believe that we have what it takes to succeed,” said Nare.
Kaunda has so far scored 11 goals for ZPC Hwange and he is the league’s joint leading top goal scorer with Tinotenda Chitete of Nkayi United.
On the other hand, Chauya Chikwata will have Keth Chikami and Sawusani Mudimba to bank on for maximum points. Second-placed Casymn have a date with army side Indlovu Iyanyathela at Brad Barracks. Casymn will go into the match with their tails up after they dismissed Jordan Sinnot3-0 in their Week 18 fixture. It was a win that took their points tally to 35, 13 adrift from ZPC Hwange.
Last weekend, Indlovu Iyanyathela were inactive as their fixture against Ajax Hotspurs was postponed. Sitting in position three, Nkayi United, who are coming from an impressive 2-0 win over Bulawayo City, will fight it out against battered Zebra Revolution at White City B Arena.
Johannes Ngodzo and his Adachi FC charges will travel to Plumtree’s Dingumuzi Stadium to meet Mainline while Bulawayo City play host to Ajax Hotspurs at White City Stadium.
