The Paul Chimalizeni-coached side have now amassed 15 points from six games-three points clear of the second placed Power Master who lost to JMC Academy by an identical score.
ZPC started well and went ahead in the 31st minute when Makuvaza rifled home a volley from the edge of the box.
Blue Jets reacted positively and put their opponents under consistent pressure throughout the first half and were duly rewarded after the interval in the 61st minute.
ZPC were reduced to ten men when Makuvaza received his second yellow card in the 65th minute and for a while Jets took control of the game but came short in front of goals.
Daniel Chakupe rose from the bench to snatch a dramatic win for ZPC two minutes in time added on and send the home crowd into delirium.
Chimalizeni praised his charges and vowed to maintain the form.
“The team played well and won the match. In this Northern Region league there are many good teams including Blue Jets, it’s only that one team wins at the end of the day and am glad we won.
“We want to keep on winning as many games so that we can have a shout for the championship at the end of season,” said Chimalizeni.
The ZPC gaffer said the team will, however, feel the absence of Makuvaza in their next assignments.
“Makuvaza is currently playing well and we will definitely miss his services in our next game.
“His experience is helping the team to stabilise as he is inspiring the kids,” said Chimalizeni.
Power Master remain in second place after their defeat to JMC Academy.
The club’s chief executive, Lewis Matindife, escaped unhurt when his Mercedes Benz veered off the road and crashed into a ditch in Harare on Saturday as he returned home from the game in Shamva.
Matindife, who was the Shooting Stars chairman last year, said he lost control of the vehicle after its steering control arm developed problems.
“It all happened very fast, one minute I was stuck in the traffic and then the next I was in the ditch,” said Matindife.
“Luckily, I wasn’t injured and that is what is important and we have done some repairs on the car and it is back on the road.
“Maybe, it’s the pressure that is now coming from the club’s run of two straight defeats.”
