ZPC Kariba have scripted a fairy-tale in the Castle Lager Premiership this season and their coach Saul Chaminuka wants to see a happy ending.

The side could be crowned the league champions this season if they manage to win all their remaining matches against Dynamos and CAPS United – a tall order at this stage of the race.

The PSL have not confirmed the fixtures for Week 29 but ZPC Kariba, as the home team, are keen to have their big match against DeMbare at the National Sports Stadium instead of Gwanzura.

In the reverse fixture, Artwell Nyamiwa struck the solitary goal that stunned Dynamos at the giant stadium, in time added on.

“We now find ourselves competing for the championship at this stage. When we lost to FC Platinum, we thought our chances had evaporated and we thought we were down and out,” said Chaminuka.

“But Dynamos then drew their match on the same weekend. We then won the next two matches while they have registered another draw and now the gap has been reduced.

“Now, we are playing them and this is one game that we have to win.

“We want to play at the National Sports Stadium because it can accommodate more fans. If we play well against Dynamos then we can improve our chances ahead of the game against CAPS United.”

Katururu edged Harare City 3-2 at Rufaro on Saturday with veteran Limited Chikafa scoring a brace while Pride Tafirenyika weighed in with another effort.

“As ZPC, we have done our preparations well. We are not under any pressure. So we will play our normal game,” said Chaminuka.

“We want to get a win but that does not mean we are putting pressure on ourselves. In fact we always want to get positive results in every game.

“Every time we play, we try to be as competitive as possible and this game in not an exception.”

ZPC Kariba chairman Munyaradzi Nduna last week hinted that they would have liked to stage the crunch league match against Dynamos at their home in Kariba, but this would not be the case.

Nyamhunga, which is owned by the Kariba Municipality, is still undergoing renovations.

“We want to play our home matches in Kariba as soon as possible. Besides the issue of travelling for the players, we feel the people of Kariba should be able to watch their club at home.

“At the moment the municipality is working on the stadium and maybe we could use it as from next year,” said Nduna.

Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro said they gave their players a rest yesterday and would be resuming their preparations this morning.

Chihoro said he was not sure where they will play ZPC Kariba.

“We did not train today but we will work out tomorrow. At the moment we do not have any idea of the programme from the PSL,” said Chihoro.

Barring any injuries during training, Dynamos will welcome Ocean Mushure, who missed the last assignment because of suspension while the ZPC will see the return of Tawanda “Rambo” Munyanduri.

The former CAPS United hardman has been one of the outstanding players for ZPC Kariba this season and they need his huge presence in their biggest match of the season against the defending champions.
