The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a 28-year-old Harare man in connection with a gruesome murder case in Warren Park D in which a man was allegedly killed and buried in a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery.
In a statement released on Thursday, police confirmed the arrest of Shepherd Severa following investigations into the death of Brian Nandana.
According to the police, detectives recovered a blood-stained Toyota Aqua vehicle, registration number AGO 2804, at Warren Hills Cemetery on 19 May at around 4AM.
The recovery of the vehicle reportedly led investigators to Severa, who allegedly confessed to killing his friend by cutting his throat with a kitchen knife before allegedly sucking his blood.
Police said the suspect later led investigators to a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery where the victim’s body was recovered. Authorities said the body had a deep cut on the neck and an injury at the back of the head.
The ZRP said investigations into the full circumstances surrounding the murder are still underway and more details will be released in due course.
The shocking nature of the allegations has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Zimbabweans expressing horror over the incident.
