ZRP begin defence of SARPCCO Games title

ZIMBABWE Republic Police started their defence of the Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) Games yesterday.

Olivia Chitate settled for silver in the 5 000m race.

Chitate could not outpace Maselina Bisau of Tanzania at the Uhuru Stadium yesterday.

Dickson Kamungeremu retained his gold medal in the 100m dash by outsprintimg Bolt Cutter from Eswatini.

Gaylody Takaendesa scooped gold and Rejoice Nyamajiwa settled for silver in the shot put.

Isaac Mpofu finished the 10 000m in 29:31 minutes and Elijah Mabhunu got bronze.

Chido Maya failed to finish the race after he pulled a muscle.

An awareness campaign against match fixing, corruption, doping and racial discrimination was aired before the Games begun.
