ZRP Byo Inter-Stations 2 team knock out

THE race to become the next champions in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Bulawayo Province Inter-Stations Soccer League has become a two-horse one, pitting Bulawayo Central and Queens Park.

Following a 3 – 1 win over Hillside on Wednesday, Bulawayo Central are topping the league table with 69 points from 28 matches. Their closest challengers and the only team now able to catch them, Queens Park are second on the table with 67 points.

Should Bulawayo Central go on to win their remaining two fixtures, they will end the season on 75 points meaning six points will enable them to put the title beyond the reach of their fierce rivals.

If Bulawayo Central go on to lift the title, it will be their third title since the Townshend and Butcher sponsored league started. However, Bulawayo Central technical director Seagal Masuku said their remaining matches will not be easy as they have to face Njube in their next match.

“The aim now is to win our remaining matches then we are done. We know it won’t be easy facing Njube because they have speedy strikers who can penetrate our defence but we will be working on our weaknesses before the match. Right now we are doing light training and our final preparations will be on Monday,” Masuku said.

While Tshabalala are fighting not to finish the season at the bottom of the table for the second time, defending champions Western Commonage are sitting on position five with 52 points.

Western Commonage’s Frank Shumba is however eyeing the top goal scorer accolade as he has netted 32 goals followed by Eric Martin from Queens Park with 26 goals.
