THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has begun a recruitment exercise to boost its human resources as it continues to undergo a major transformation in adopting a new structure and re-branding to win back public confidence.
However, members of the public have since been warned to be wary of fraudsters who might want to take advantage of this exercise by promising them employment within the Police Service.
According to ZRP, applicants should be aged between 18 to 22, have a minimum of five O-Levels including Maths, English and any other Science subjects attained in not more than two sittings, should be physically fit, a minimum height of 1.68m and weigh no less than 57kg for males and for females, they should be 1.60m and a minimum weight of 55kg.
Applicants should also be prepared to complete a 5km road run in 20 minutes for males and 25 minutes for females.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the developments.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is recruiting suitably qualified candidates who are Zimbabwean citizens, physically fit to join the organisation as general duty constables and train for a Diploma in Police Studies at Morris Police Academy, an affiliate of the University of Zimbabwe,” he said.
“Applications are being called for from suitably qualified candidates who are Zimbabwean citizens, physically and medically fit, interested in joining the Zimbabwe Republic Police in the following categories: – (i) General Duty Constable, (ii) Construction Technician and Artisan (iii) Tailor Technician A-General Duty Constable General Duty Constables shall train for a period of one year at Mkushi Police Academy,” he said.
On Construction Artisans, Comm Nyathi said these comprise of: – Bricklayer, Carpenter, Tiler, Plumber, Painter, Electrician, Welder/ Boilermaker/Fabrication engineering technician and Refrigeration Mechanic aged between 18-30 years.
They should have a minimum of five (05) ‘O’ Level passes with grade ‘C’ or better, including English Language and Mathematics obtained in not more than three sittings.
Should be a holder of journeyman class one category, a national certificate or a Diploma in a relevant field obtained from a recognised institution.
At least two years of practical industrial experience will be an added advantage. Comm Nyathi said they should be apprenticeship trained and be physically and medically fit and have a good background with no previous convictions. On the Technicians, Comm Nyathi said these comprise of: Civil Engineering Technicians, Quantity Surveyors, and Architectural Technicians aged between 18-30 years.
They should have a minimum of five ‘O’ Level passes with grade ‘C’ or better, including English Language and Mathematics obtained in not more than three sittings, be a holder of a national certificate or diploma in a relevant field, obtained from a recognised institution.
At least two years of practical industrial experience will be an added advantage, be physically and medically fit and have a good background with no previous convictions.
On Tailor Technician recruitment, these comprise of: – Industrial Clothing Technology, Industrial Clothing Machine Mechanics, Clothing Fashion Designing, Clothing Design and Construction aged 18-30 years, have a minimum of five ‘O’ Level passes with grade ‘C’ or better, including English Language and Mathematics obtained in not more than three sittings. Be a holder of a National Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Textile Engineering or Textile Studies in the relevant field, obtained from a recognised institution.
At least two years practical industrial experience will be an added advantage, be physically and medically fit and have a good background with no previous convictions.
“Applicants are to submit their hand written application letters with at least two (02) contact numbers, life history of between 450 to 500 words, copy of identity document and certified copies of educational/ professional qualifications in person to the Officer in Charge of the nearest Police Station where they stay on or before Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
