ZRP hosts Africa Surge Operation meeting

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is currently hosting the Africa Cyber Surge Operation meeting for International Criminal Police Organisations (Interpol) Member States at the Interpol Regional Bureau in Harare.

The meeting started on Tuesday and is expected to end on November 21, 2024.

Among those attending are the Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga; the assistant director Cybercrime Operations in Interpol Cybercrime Directorate, Mr Enrique Hernandez; Head of Interpol Regional Bureau Harare, Mr Sello Moerane; Africa Police (AFRIPOL) senior cybercrime officer, Mr Omar Daas and Criminal Investigations Department chief director, Commissioner Jealous Nyabasa, among other police officers.

At least 36 participants drawn from different Interpol members in Africa are attending the meeting.

The Africa Cyber Surge Operation is a multinational cybercrime suppression operation that aims to support the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) member countries by developing actionable information along broad themes linked to the region.
