Police in Kadoma have arrested two men during an operation targeting drug and substance abuse in the gold-rich town.

The two, Tinashe Jaben (19) of Waverly and Thulani Gundani (30) of Cold Storage ,were arrested last Thursday after they were caught in possession of dangerous drugs at a suspected drug base behind Kewada Building in the city’s central business district.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) provincial spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, said Jaben was found with 30 sachets of dagga, eight bottles of Bronclear cough syrup and two bottles of Benylin syrup, substances commonly abused by some youths.

“Gundani was found in possession of 54 sachets of dagga. The drugs weighed 260 grammes and 400 grammes respectively,” he said.

The two suspects are expected to appear in court soon. Police in the province, he said, reiterate commitment to zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and abuse, urging members of the public to continue supplying information on drug dealers in their communities.

“Those involved in dealing in dangerous drugs are warned that the long arm of the law will not spare them,” he said.
