THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Nkulumane District has launched a Client Service Charter anchored on four key pillars, setting clear service delivery standards aimed at improving efficiency, accountability and public confidence.

The charter, unveiled at Pumula North Shopping Centre on Thursday, outlines minimum service benchmarks expected of officers in their day-to-day interactions with the public.

Acting Officer Commanding Nkulumane District, Superintendent Sifiso Siziba, said the initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening community relations and enhancing professionalism within the police service.

Under the first pillar, which focuses on response to calls and general public interaction, police have committed to treating all citizens with dignity, urgency and respect.
Supt Siziba said members of the public visiting police stations and service points across Nkulumane District, namely

Nkulumane, Luveve, Tshabalala, Magwegwe, Pumula and Cowdray Park police stations, will be attended to within one minute of arrival.
Telephone calls will be answered within three rings, while all written correspondence will be acknowledged and responded to within seven days.

“We are aware that members of the public often come to our stations carrying heavy burdens — they may be frightened, frustrated or grieving. They deserve to be treated with dignity and assisted promptly,” he said.
The second pillar focuses on crime management, with the police committing to receive and record all reports without prejudice.

“No complaint is too trivial to be recorded and none will be turned away. Cases will be investigated thoroughly, professionally and within the confines of the law,” said Supt Siziba.
He added that the police will pursue all suspects and ensure they are brought before the courts, with justice applied equally regardless of social or economic standing.

“Whether the victim is a prominent businessperson or a market vendor, every citizen matters equally under the law,” said Supt Siziba.
On traffic management, the third pillar, Supt Siziba said enforcement would be firm, fair and consistent, with increased deployment of officers at major intersections and congestion points.
He stressed that traffic enforcement is not intended to generate revenue but to save lives.

“Corruption will not be tolerated. Any officer found engaging in corrupt activities will face the full force of internal disciplinary processes,” he warned.
The fourth pillar centres on community assistance, maintenance of public order and public reassurance.
Supt Siziba said police will continue to provide security at social, religious, political and cultural gatherings in a professional manner that respects constitutional rights and freedoms.
