Zimbabwe Rugby Union executive vice-president Colleen De Jong says the association has received an overwhelming response for the vacant post of Technical Director. She said they will be announcing the successful candidate within a fortnight.
The post fell vacant after Liam Middleton resigned at the end of last month to take up the job of head coach of the Canada Sevens men’s rugby side ahead of the start of the 2014-15 HSBC Sevens World Series.
ZRU said they have received many applications from some highly qualified candidates.
“We have received applications from all corners of the world,” said de Jonge.
“There are some big names that have shown interest in this opening and this is a very good sign that Zimbabwe rugby has turned a corner and that we are headed in the right direction.
“It is truly humbling to know that we have a great reputation as a union out there. I can only say this is the beginning of many great things to come for us.”
