PPC, having agreed to transfer 15 percent shareholding to the Community Share Ownership Scheme and its workers, advanced US24c to US240c, followed by tobacco processing company BAT and mobile phone operator Econet were US5c solid at US170c and US375c respectively.
Hippo gained US4c to close at US110c, Old Mutual and Turnall rose by a cent each to settle at US176c and 11c respectively.
Aico Africa, which issued a cautionary statement, gained US0,50c to close at US19,50c.
Gains were offset by losses in financial group ZBFH, which slipped US7c to US13c. Afdis was down a cent to close at US11c and starafrica lost US0,10c to trade at US0,90c.
The mining index was steady at 83,19 points despite Falgold gaining US1,99c to trade at US9c.
Bindura, Hwange and RioZim were unchanged at previous levels. Week-on-week the mining index gained 0,65 percent.
Improved foreign participation since the beginning of February has sustained daily turnover well above the US$1 million mark, with an average daily turnover of US$1,4 million while the lowest and highest daily turnover of US$1,1million and US$3,8
million were recorded on February 2 and 8 respectively.
Highlighting the positive sentiment that has been prevailing on the equities market, gaining counters have outnumbered losers for the past 10 consecutive trading sessions, although active counters remain low at 42 percent of the 74 listed counters.
Econet was leading the turnover contribution
for the week, accumulating trades worth US$2,5 million.
RioZim had trades worth US$479 000 as the company appears set for a possible recapitalisation.
The week also saw two special bargain trades of
2,5 million Delta shares at US70c (US$1,8 million) and 370 000 Econet shares at US360c (US$1,3 million).
